In the event of serious illness or injury among immediate family members the employee may use his/her sick leave allowance in the same way as for personal illness or injury. (Immediate family is defined as any of the following: spouse, significant other, children, parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, grandchildren, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, uncle, niece, and nephew.) The Superintendent may, at any time, require a doctor’s certificate of proof of illness. (See also
