Curriculum

The mission “Is not simply to ensure that students are taught but to ensure that they learn.  This simple shift – from a focus on teaching to a focus on learning – has profound implications for schools.”
(DuFour, 2004)

Carrie Brooks, Curriculum Director

Welcome to the curriculum site!  Here you will find Idaho State Standards, corresponding essential skills maps and adopted textbooks for the courses offered at Moscow School District.

Idaho State Standards The Idaho State Standards articulate what students are expected to learn at each grade level, in each content area.

Essential (Priority) Standards:  Priority standards are a carefully selected subset of the total list of the grade‐specific and course‐specific standards within each content area that students must know and be able to do by the end of each school year in order to be prepared to enter the next grade level or course. (Ainsworth, Rigorous Curriculum Design, 2010)

Essential Standards Are...

● What teachers will spend the majority of instructional time teaching.
● What teachers will assess.
● What teachers will have data-driven discussions about.
● What teachers will intervene on (enrichment or remediation)

Why Develop Essential Standards?

Four Key Questions the Moscow School District wants to know:

1. What do we expect students to learn?
2. How do we know they are learning it?
3. How do we respond when they do not learn?
4. How do we respond when they have already learned?

Requirement of All Students Graduating from Idaho Public High Schools
All students graduating from Idaho public high schools must meet state adopted content standards. These standards are to be used as a minimum threshold by every school district in the state in order to establish some consistency in academic content statewide.
