Members of the Moscow School District Community,

I want to extend a hearty and sincere THANK YOU to all who participated in the forum Monday night. The Board was able to hear many concerns regarding my proposal directly from the people who would be most impacted as well as from those who identified potential benefits. I found the comments to be solutions based, thoughtful, and insightful. Thank you!

As a leader of our district, I want to assure you that I am committed to doing what is right for our students. As a district we must continue to take on challenging topics and have discussions about what our desires are for our students and for future students who will walk down our halls. These are not always fun or easy conversations, but they are always worth it!

I know that not everyone was able to attend last night, so I am including a link to the video of the board meeting (https://youtube.com/live/AJrkOSsudbM?feature=share) and testimony as well as a pdf version of the slide deck that was presented.

In addition, I know that the board would love to have your thoughts and insights on this proposal whether you are for or against or somewhere in between. They will be accepting comments up to the Regular Board meeting on Wednesday, March 27th, 2024. Please feel free to email them with your thoughts. Board of Trustees email addresses can be found this link:  www.msd281.org/board_of_trustees/board_of_trustees

Thanks again for the important role that each of you play in our district. I look forward to working together with you.

Sincerely,

Shawn Tiegs, Superintendent
Moscow School District

WELCOME TO THE
MOSCOW SCHOOL DISTRICT!
THE PRIDE OF THE NORTH!

Our school district is a welcoming, high-performing, and thriving district with approximately 2175 amazing, unique, and special students who attend one of our four elementary schools, middle school, high school, or regional non-traditional high school.

Centered on the boundary of the fertile, productive agricultural soils of the Palouse to the west and diverse, tree-filled evergreen forests to the east, the Moscow School District is similarly diverse and productive. With an amazing, university-based community that values education, prominent levels of parent and volunteer engagement and a highly educated and high-performing staff, it is no wonder that our student scores and performances rank the Moscow School District consistently as a top tier school in the State of Idaho.

At the Moscow School District we strive to provide an educational system where each and every student is provided with:

• A safe and welcoming environment,
• A sense of belonging in our school and their community,
• An enriching and rigorous education that prepares them for future challenges,
• Access to a diverse set of extra-curricular activities and experiences,
• The skills to become a positive and contributing member of society.

I welcome you to take the time to view our website and see the amazing things that are happening in our district. It is our mission to ensure that this site is informative and useful for both those who have been a part of our school district for a long time and for those who are newcomers to the Moscow School District. Welcome to the Moscow School District, the Pride of the North!

Together in Education,
Shawn Tiegs, Superintendent
