MSD Learning Standards & Common Core

The mission “Is not simply to ensure that students are taught but to ensure that they learn.  This simple shift – from a focus on teaching to a focus on learning – has profound implications for schools.”
(DuFour, 2004)

Carrie Brooks, Curriculum Director

Welcome to the curriculum site!  Here you will find Idaho State Standards, corresponding competencies and adopted textbooks for the courses offered at Moscow School District, as well as other curriculum related resources.

Idaho State Standards:  The Idaho State Standards articulate what students are expected to learn at each grade level, in each content area.

Curriculum:   Curriculum is the planned interaction with students utilizing instructional content, materials, resources, and processes for the goal of obtaining the knowledge and skills within a specific content or performance area.

Instruction:   Instruction is a framework for effective teaching that facilitates an environment of learning.

Competencies:   Competencies are knowledge, skills and/or behaviors that students much master in a specific content or performance area.  They are observable, measurable, and rooted in the Idaho State Standards.

Mastery:   Mastery is the targeted level of achievement relative to a standard or learning goal. “Demonstrating mastery” is synonymous with “demonstrating proficiency” or “meeting the standard”.
