There are a variety of competitive academic teams for students to join. Some of these teams are listed below.

As with all competitive activities, in order to represent MMS, you must first fill out the substance abuse form.
|Future Problem Solvers||FPS is a national program to develop creative thinking, problem solving skills and the ability to work in a group. Students research topics chosen by participants in a survey. Groups work through a step-by-step procedure to arrive at a solution. Problems are those that our world may be facing both now, and in the future, such as poverty, the arms race and tropical rain forests.|
Starting in October
|Knowledge Bowl is an academic trivia activity that is open to 6th – 8th graders.. The competition involves both speed and accuracy in answering questions from the moderator. Topics include such fields as math, science, history, current events and literature. Practice sessions take place during lunch on Mondays and pit groups against each other or faculty groups. Teams are chosen to compete against other area schools. Contact Mrs. Lawton for more information.|
|Future City Competition
Starting late September
|Future City is a national, project-based learning program where students in grades 6 thru 8 imagine, research, design, and build cities of the future. Keeping the engineering design process and project management front and center, students work in teams to ask and answer an authentic, real-world question: How can we make the world a better place?
